From the Arizona Republic: Seven political activists claiming their civil rights were violated after they were arrested and cited for protesting against Sheriff Joe Arpaio's immigration policies recently were awarded nearly $475,000 by Maricopa County. The settlement, reached this week, was nine times more than what the county's self-insured trust had originally authorized in February, and significantly higher than what the county planned to offer just days before the settlement, according to memos obtained by The Arizona Republic.

The primary can keep working on H1. If you don't plan on changing your job, be on H1. If there is any issue with your application, then you are still on H1. If you are on EAD and your application is denied, then your EAD also becomes invalid.

Is my birth certificate needed to invite my parents on visitor visa? Isn't my SSC certificate showing date of birth and both parents name enough?

I have a PD of September 2007 in the EB-2 category. I am currently on an H1B 3 year extension(after 6 years) on basis of an approved I-140.I am a physician and would like to pursue a fellowship given that it is unclear how many years I will have to wait to get a green card. Can I extend the H1B (change employer),given that I got the 3 year extension of the H1b on the basis of an approved I-140? What are the consequences for the H1B visa (employer change).I know I may have to start my green card process all over again.Thank you.

Please take couple of secs to finish this poll. No matter what was your case for interview..extension, renewal, first time..when was H1/H4 etc approved..where it was approved..etc etc..nothing matters. All that needs to be tracked is wait time.
As long as New Delhi consulate please do this and this will give an idea for wait times.

gcformeornot is correct. You cannot "transfer" an I-140 approval, but you can keep and use the PD for any subsequent I-140. Once a new LC is approved, a copy of the I-140 approval notice with the 10/2007 PD should be included in the new I-140 submission along with a request to use the old PD on the new I-140 approval notice.

I joined company ABC on H1B in 2005.
In Nov 2006 company XYZ filed my GC.
H1B got transferred to a couple of companies because I changed jobs while GC was being processed in parallel without being affected by my job changes because it was filed by another company.
In Oct 2007 got my EAD for a period of 1 year. Kept working on H1B only though.
EAD expired in Oct 2008. Applied for a new card but never received it. Did not apply for one after that.
In Nov 2009, I quit my job and moved back to home country giving up my H1B while still not affecting my GC because company XYZ agreed to keep it under process.
So at this time, I have no H1B and no EAD card. My priority date is however going to be current soon.
Now...
1) Do I have to be in the country before my dates get current or can I do that later?
2) On what status do I enter?
3) Can I delay the process somehow without affecting my GC?

I am currently on H1B status with 3 yrs left on my visa. I've used 3 yrs already.
I'm not a project at the moment and if I convert to H4 now, can I continue on the same H1 after a couple of yrs.

I spoke with TSC Rep today. I called up to re-check what lot of other guys are saying here that TSC no longer is honoring 180 day namecheck rule mandated by court few months back.
TSC Rep said she has no idea about 180 day rule but knows about FBI/USCIS joint effort for clearing name checks pending more than year, 2 years etc.
So atleast, my call suggested that some people at USCIS have no idea about 180 days rule mandaged by court.
