I have been wanting to post this for the last few days and was happy to read this thread.........can we do something like an Immigrant's Boycott Day or something where we should do a mass boycott all over the country.....we need to coordinate this across the entire country and do a gandhi style protest.....but we need atleast maybe 1000 people per city to do it.....I am not sure how difficult it is to get that many people.....but that seems to be the only way to create an Impact.......WE HAVE TO MAKE OUR EMPLOYERS FEEL THE IMPACT OF NOT HAVING US FOREIGN WORKERS.....THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THIS EXPLOITATION........its like when all the mexican farmers stopped working on the strawberry farms.....there were no strawberries in the market....I am in the Detroit, MI area.... we need to come up with a list of big cities where we can get 1000 people per city.

First of all why do U wanna ask that? Its an employment based visa that ur GC is based on. So, ur employer shud ask that. Why are u asking IVans to do something which is not in their control??? You can check your balances online and they now offer electronic payments also. ICICI has higher rates, so I wouldn't recommend. Looks like in majority end july through August are pending the receipt of AP not to say some of the guys have still got it but they are from various service centers. Very inconstent. This is a document that has no accountability to be completed by X amount of time but we have all paid fees for it. Come vacation time and no AP, we will have to make the trip without the document. Its not that one decides to go to vacation every month. This is a losing deal for us. How do we address this delay? Infopass does not help I was told unless you decide to lie wholesale.

I agree, what did I do for IV for the past few months, nothing. Responded to one or two threads. Been very busy at work and was not able to contribute constructively to this organization. I am wondering how many of us are in this same boat, what are we all actually doing in helping the organization from either volunteering, getting more people to open their eyes and recognize a problem and organize and mobilize people. I have been trying for the past 4 years and its not easy and not always successful. To see the leadership team constantly juggling between work and working on different initiatives and putting in self less hours really requires appreciation. Now I think its worth asking ourselves, how much have we done or are willing to do to take us to where all of us want to be IMHO.

If you pass substantial presence test and treated as resident for tax purposes, you get the check from IRS. Mots of us file 1040A for taxes. Only few of us do not qualify as residents for tax purposes file 1040NR, those don't get.
If your spouse doesn't work and have a child, then you may qualify as head of household and sometimes get bigger check.

H1b and GC are sponsered by employer and they have to pay. If employer asks employee to pay the expenses then that company is not legitimate and persons should avoid joining those companies. Most reputed companies will pay all the expenses of GC and H1b. Some will ask employees to pay for dependents EAD,AP etc.
